The traditional Santiago(é)Tapas arrives in the city in its XVI edition

13 Feb 2025 | Gastronomy, Leisure

From Thursday, February 13 to Sunday, March 2, a new edition of Santiago(é)Tapas will take place in Santiago de Compostela, a gastronomic event promoted and organized by Turismo de Santiago with the support of the Diputación de A Coruña.

For three weeks, each of the 42 participating establishments will offer the public a tapa prepared specifically for the occasion. As in previous editions, attendees will be able to find a wide variety of options: some of the tapas will be traditional and pay homage to traditional flavors, while others will be full of creativity, fusing local ingredients with innovative touches and modern culinary techniques. This variety ensures that there will always be something for everyone.

Thus, the tour can be done through 7 gastronomic routes and, by completing one or more, you can get a series of prizes.

Therefore, this event will not only allow you to enjoy the great flavors of Galician gastronomy, but will also be a great opportunity to discover the bars, restaurants, streets and charm of the capital.

What steps must you follow in order to participate?

First of all, before starting your journey in this gastronomic festival, you must go to the Tourist Office of Santiago, from Monday to Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00, to pick up your Tapasporte. This booklet will allow you to prove that you have done one of the 7 tapas routes.

If you are a tourist, or you are visiting the city for a few days, the Tapasporte has a section called “Tapasporte Express”. The operation will be the same as the normal booklet, the only difference is that the “Tapasporte Express” section is aimed at this type of occasional public.

Secondly, you must decide which tapas route to choose. There are sweet, gluten-free and vegetarian options.

Once you have decided, prepare your appetite to enjoy the experience to the fullest.

Every time you try a tapa, you must vote through a QR code that will be provided at the establishment itself.

At this very moment, you can ask for your Tapasporte to be stamped.

Finally, when you complete one or more tapas routes, head back to the Santiago Tourist Office, where your prize will be waiting for you. You can get from a series of Galician products of organic farming or food crafts, to bottles of wine, beer packs, coffee of great brands or season tickets for Obradoiro CAB and SD Compostela, among many other prizes.

However, you will have until March 10 to apply.

In addition, among all the people who cast their vote, another gift will be raffled by the company Hijos de Rivera, main sponsor of the gastronomic contest and owner of Estrella Galicia, Ponte da Boga and Cabreiroá.

A unique event in the Galician capital

Beyond the prizes and the delicious food, Santiago(é)Tapas is an excellent opportunity to discover the city at its most welcoming and festive. In other words, besides being a great gastronomic event, it is a great social event. It allows you to meet up, go out, discover new bars and restaurants you may not have known about, stroll through the historic streets of Santiago between one tapa and another and, at the same time, enjoy our gastronomy by trying new and innovative flavor combinations or choosing the traditional through a wide variety of proposed routes.

If you are a lover of good food or just looking for an excuse to go out and enjoy the best of Santiago, this event is an event you can’t miss.

And finally, from I Love Compostela we recommend the tapa of Casa Ramos, which you can see in the photo and which we have already tried and loved.
