The evenings in Santiago de Compostela will come alive thanks to the new edition of Festival C, from August 5 to 29, which will bring thirty cultural proposals.
These activities include music, dance, poetry, cinema, storytelling, puppets, circus and performances by Galician and visiting artists and companies.
They will take place in different squares, parks and streets of the city and will be completely free for all audiences. The circus will have a prominent role in the festival. Circonove will organize, from August 5 to 28, eight circus workshops for children from 6 to 12 years old and two for children from 3 to 5 years old, which will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Casa das Máquinas. Groups are limited to 25 participants and registrations will be made by sending an email to circonoveoficina@gmail.com.
On Thursday afternoons there will be three circus shows at the praza da Quintana: ‘
Lullaby‘ by
Proyecto Kavauri on August 8th, ‘
Chof le ciel‘ by the
company Colokolo on August 22, and ‘Latexo‘ by Pistacatro on August 29, all at 8 pm and with free access.
Storytelling for children
Tuesday afternoons in Bonaval Park will be dedicated to ‘Contos no parque’ of the Apego Program, aimed at children, starting at 6 pm. The sessions include ‘Barquiño de pau‘ by A tropa de trapo on August 6, ‘Cadernos de cores e cancións‘ by Magín Blanco on August 13, ‘As palabras perdidas‘ by Inventi Teatro on August 20, and ‘Circo Galaico‘ by Títeres Alakrán on August 27. On August 6 and 7, Os Monicreques de Kukas will present ‘Gernika‘ and ‘S.O.S. Emerxencia Ambiental‘ at the Ferradura de la Alameda promenade. These Tutilimundi shows, with animated scenes inside a box, will be performed in 5-minute shows between 6pm and 8pm.
Dance, poetry and performance
Festival C will also highlight dance and the performing arts in the city’s parks.
The company VacaBurra will inaugurate the cycle on August 5 at 8 p.m. in the Bonaval cemetery with ‘Ruar‘. Other shows include ‘Fantastic Futures (A Beginning)‘ by RPM Collective and Aleksandar Georgiev on Aug. 7, ‘Otempodiz‘ by Ertza on Aug. 12, ‘Meohadim Outdoor‘ by Jacob Gomez on Aug. 19 and ‘Minguantes‘ by La Guajira on Aug. 26. The poetic proposals and performances will be concentrated on Wednesdays. On August 14, Benxamín Otero and Melania Cruz will present ‘Antoloxía dos lugares da luz‘ at the Ferradura de la Alameda promenade. The

Funboa Escénica will perform with ‘Sinte‘ at the Bonaval cemetery, and on August 28, Kennebec will perform ‘Todos os dias‘ at the same place.
Open-air movie nights
The nights of Festival C will be dedicated to outdoor cinema.
On August 13, the Bonaval park will screen ‘Buscando a Santa Compaña’, by Fernando Cortizo, with the presence of the director and other members of the crew. The NUMAX film sessions will be held at Rúa Concepción Arenal, with screenings of ‘The Panther Woman‘ by Jaques Tourneur on August 27 and ‘Imitation of Life‘ by Douglas Sirk on August 28, both at 9 p.m. and with free admission.
