Mercado da Estrela returns to highlight local talent

12 Dec 2024 | Culture, Gastronomy, Leisure

The traditional Mercado da Estrela returns to turn Santiago de Compostela into a meeting point for the celebration of Galician talent, crafts and local commerce. It will take place this weekend, from December 13 to 15, in different scenarios of the city, such as the Hospedería de San Martiño Pinario.

The initiative, now in its thirteenth edition, wants to value the local people and what they are capable of doing. For this reason, its slogan is ‘Give Galician talent‘ and every year it attracts more and more people. In fact, in 2023 it had almost 28,000 visitors, a record it hopes to beat this time.

A varied program

The Mercado da Estrela will distribute its activities in several emblematic heritage scenarios. The craft and Galician product stalls will be located in the hostelry and the processional cloister of the monastery of San Martiño Pinario, while in the dining room and the garden of the Pazo de Fonseca there will be a specific space dedicated to the Crafts of Galicia. The opening hours will be:

  • Friday: from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: 11:00 am to 9:00 pm.

In addition, the foodtruck area, with a varied gastronomic offer in food vehicles, will be installed in the Plaza 8 de Marzo, where there will also be musical sessions by DJs of different genres. On the other hand, concerts and activities will take place at the Don Bosco Youth Center.

A diverse musical line-up and innovative proposals

This year’s musical program includes performances by artists and bands such as Boyanka Kostova, Amoebo, Belish, Alana, Pava, Terrae, MONOULIOUS DOP, More Amore DJs, MeuReich, Señora DJ, DJ Daasanach, Crooked Savage DJ and Saibran DJ. As novelties, there will be participatory proposals such as “Bingo estreleiro” with Lúa Gándara and “Bingo Musical”.

The Mercado da Estrela has also thought about the little ones. There will be leisure activities and workshops specially designed for children, which will take place in different spaces. With this program, the event reaffirms itself as a reference of Christmas in Santiago de Compostela, an opportunity to discover the best of Galician talent and enjoy a more conscious, responsible and sustainable consumption.
