NUMAX CINEMAS

In the city of Santiago de Compostela there are several movie theaters where you can enjoy current movies and a cinematic experience. The most important are NUMAX, Cinesa As Cancelas and Multicines Compostela.

NUMAX is a cultural space located on Concepción Arenal street, close to Plaza de Galicia and the city center. More than a cinema, it is an experience that combines theaters with a bookstore, a design, communication and production laboratory.

It is a non-profit work cooperative in which people who want to disseminate culture work together to collaborate in this work.

The NUMAX cinema is a complete departure from the commercial circuit to which other cinemas such as Cinesa, for example, have accustomed us. Its programming consists of documentaries, short films, independent and auteur films, both from Spain and other countries such as France, Japan or Korea. It also organizes various events and activities related to the seventh art.

NUMAX is one of the essential stops that any film lover must make when visiting Santiago de Compostela.

The game of the goose and the Way of St. James: an unexpected guide

What if those afternoons of “goose to goose and shoot because it’s my turn” had been, without knowing it, a small Camino de Santiago in your own home? For years a hypothesis as suggestive as popular has been circulating: the game of the goose would be a symbolic map of the Jacobean route, designed by the Templars to codify stages, aids and dangers of this route. What’s true? Here we review the documented history of the game and the keys to this particular theory.
