The
Granxa do Xesto Park
is a recently created green area in the city of Santiago de Compostela, located in the area of Santo Ignacio do Monte, on the slopes of Monte Pedroso.
Throughout its 82,000 square meters of extension, visitors can enjoy its more than two kilometers of routes and paths adapted for walking, making it very popular among local families.
Specifically, it is accessed from Galeras Street, where there is another well-known green rest area, heading east, at the height of the Santa Isabel stadium.
This great natural enclave is ideal for walking and to enjoy its wooded area, with species such as eucalyptus and pine trees. In addition, it invites to rest in front of its fountains, artificial lakes and water concentrations, supplied by a small stream.
It is a particularly beautiful site during autumn, when the landscape is transformed to form a covering of dry leaves in which the typical colors of the season predominate.
In the highest part of the space, a picnic area with several tables and benches was installed. There are also various services nearby, such as a cafeteria with a terrace and a bicycle parking area.
On the other hand, the site stands out for its family-oriented character, especially because of the municipal children’s playground in the immediate vicinity.
The playful use of this park is combined with a leisure area fully equipped with benches, litter garbage cans and a rest area specifically designed for socializing and enjoying family time.
For all these reasons, the Parque da Granxa do Xesto represents an opportunity to take advantage of all the potential offered by Santiago de Compostela from the point of view of improving the quality of life and the humanization of natural and landscape environments.
