Bus Station – Intermodal

The bus station of Santiago de Compostela is one of the main transportation hubs of the city, both for travelers and for the inhabitants, who move between different areas and regions. Together with the train station, it forms the intermodal station.

Its history is short, as the building is relatively recent and was inaugurated in 2021. It has a modern infrastructure and was financed by the Xunta de Galicia. It has two floors and has been designed to provide comfort and efficiency to passengers.

The lower floor houses 29 bus docks for intercity and metropolitan buses, traffic lanes and vehicle maneuvering areas, while the upper floor is used for customer service, restrooms and a large cafeteria for resting.

One of the outstanding features of this station is its accessibility. The facilities are fully adapted for people with reduced mobility or vision problems, with electronic signage. In addition, services and other facilities have been provided to ensure a comfortable experience for all visitors.

Another important element is the pedestrian walkway that connects the building with the rúa del Hórreo, which is key to facilitate the connection between the bus station and the train station in just a few minutes. It was conceived as part of the urban architecture to achieve greater integration into the environment. Work is currently underway to expand this access.
